After a day of stormy wet weather the clouds broken about an hour before sunset and I noticed a rainbow. I had a hunch that the direction of the sun was around 40 degrees off the line of sight from this location, so I rushed there just in time and it was perfectly aligned with Holgate Windmill and York Minster. A truly special moment.

2020 started with a lot of floods, nearly 3 weeks of high water level that affected homes and business. But floods are part of York's history, part of why York is where it is and a reminder that nature is everyones master.

This image is taken from Ouse Bridge on the Queens Staith side looking over to the famous Kings Arms in which a plaque can be found that shows the levels of floods.
